Community & Giving Back

Throughout my life, I’ve believed in giving back and helping where I can, both here at home and in communities around the world.

ALS became very personal to me when my wife, Corinne, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Since her passing, I have remained involved in the ALS community, helping to raise significant funds for ALS research at McMaster and mentoring and supporting spouses and families facing the disease.

I have also participated in more than 30 medical and construction mission trips to remote and developing areas around the world. These trips have allowed me to use my experience as a builder to help where practical skills and resources are greatly needed. I have also been involved in fundraising for Gutu Hospital in Zimbabwe.

Closer to home, I have helped refugee families from Vietnam, Syria and the Congo as they began new lives in Canada.

Over the years, I have also served as an area representative for Ontario Barn Preservation and helped organize Westover three-pitch baseball.

Whether it has been supporting ALS research, helping families through difficult circumstances, volunteering in my own community or using my construction experience on mission projects overseas, I have always believed that when you have the ability to help, you should.
